The Chicken Story started in 2016 with a simple heart’s desire to feed the hungry in Asia in an empowering and dignifying way. Our Story began in Cambodia where we met 2 orphaned boys called Mic and See- our hearts broke when we saw them heartily savoring a simple meal of chicken and eggs. Such food was considered a luxury, and protein was actually rare. We witnessed how children were undernourished and how their parents were in despair.
We built a chicken farm near the orphanage that housed up to 300 chickens. With the steady flow of eggs, they have received a means of livelihood- to set up a simple business with the sale of eggs as well as fill their hungry tummies. With their skilled hands in agricultural work, taking care of chickens was not an unfamiliar task.
Alongside these developments, I met Sherlynn (my current girlfriend now, who happened to be there with her church back then). Love blossomed between the two of us, and she is currently my partner in OCS as she has the same heartbeat for the hungry and poor. Motivated by the love of God and love for these people, we are looking to launch OCS 2017 in Thailand where we will go to the mountain area call Doi Inthanon (Village are Mae Khlang, Sobhad and Huai Nam Auha) . We will be serving the Karen Tribe.
We are looking forward to where this Story will go thereafter! Our goal is to feed 5000 people in a sustainable way (about 50 villages) by 2020. Indeed when we come together with our 2 loaves and 5 fishes, it will multiply and we will feed the Hungry.
Our role (The OCS Family) is merely a steward of what is given to us. Thus can we humbly ask that we "Give a chicken and feed a family today". Thank you and let's make Our Chicken Story a story that belongs to you and me.
